Ranking all of the 23 Pixar Movies
Pixar is one of the best production studios and film-making companies in the world today, and they have continuously created exceptional films for the whole family to enjoy. There aren't many bad Pixar movies, and today we rank them all from A Bug's Life to Wall-E. Almost every Pixar movie have something amazing to offer, which is what makes them so special.
And before we start, I just want to tell you what I want and what I'm gonna get from a good Pixar movie.
1. Fun and unique characters.
2. An interesting plot.
3. An emotional ending that ties the whole film together.
4. I want to feel something.
Lets emphasize that 4th and final thing. The best movies, and the best pixar movies, make the audience walk away tired, because they are exhausted from the emotional roller coaster they just experienced. Thats why the first 10 minutes of Up are so revered. Thats why Toy Story 3 is sometimes regarded to be better than the original (which it is not) because of the emotional ending. So, even though I've said it again and again, these movies at the bottom of the list don't really employ that same emotion that Finding Nemo, or WALL-E, or Inside Out does. Cars 2 definitely doesn't. Cars 3 the message isn't that important or relative. Same with Brave. So I just wanted to get that out of the way before we get started.
Also, keep in mind this is NOT a spoiler free zone.
23. Cars 2 Cars 2 is a difficult film for me to rank. It is easily last place when it comes to Pixar standards, but I feel some guilt and regret for putting it so low, because I have some fond, nostalgic, childhood memories with this film. As a young kid, combining Lightning McQueen with spy cars it pretty much the smartest thing you can do. But watching it later in life it really comes off as an awful film. Mater transitions into being the main character, so instead of being the loyal, lovable goofy side kick, you are pretty much watching him the whole movie. A long movie, also. The comedy is very slapstick and not funny at all, the plot derails and gets pretty ridiculous. This film doesn't bring the emotion that almost EVERY pixar movie does, and at the end of the day, its a weird spy film that does nothing good for the Cars franchise.

22. Cars 3Real quick I just want to point out that I think Cars 2 is the only horrible Pixar movie. Every other one is either not that good, decent, great, or amazing. That being said, Cars 3 definitely falls into the "Not that good" section. Cars 3 is a decent end to a decent Cars franchise, but all in all, nothing really stands out. There are lots of new characters in this movie, but none of them are particularly interesting in my opinion. The plot isn't super relatable, with the main being new supercars coming into the world of racing and pretty much replacing the old-school type cars. But that isn't a very interesting or emotional theme, and the movie has some cliche moments from movies similar to it. We also don't really get to spend a lot of time with the classic Radiator Springs characters. I can't really think of anything I really disliked in this movie, but I definitely can't think of anything I enjoyed in it.
21. Brave I watched Brave very recently for the first time, specifically so I could rank it on this list. I did not come into it with very high hopes, but it actually sort of surprised me. It wasn't that bad of a movie. Now, it still is very low on this list, because Pixar has so many good movies. I personally can't really relate to the main characters, because I'm not a mother, daughter, princess, queen, whatever. I'm also not from the 10th century or scottish. But the story is half decent. Once you get to the bears, and the witch, it does get pretty weird. The movie isn't very funny, and the humor is very slapstick. However, it was still a decent movie to watch, and it was pretty enjoyable. The first act is pretty interesting, compared to the weak 2nd and 3rd. However, I would have much rather enjoyed watching a movie about an awesome arrow-shooting scottish princess, than a film about a mother and daughter who disagree about marriage so then the daughter goes to a witch to change her mothers mind. But then she accidentally turns her mom into a bear? You see what I mean?

20. The Good Dinosaur The Good Dinosaur is not a bad film at all. I have a lot of praises for it. First of all, the animation is spectacular. It might be one of the most stunning animated films of all time. It gives a great message of family, and the relationship arch between Arlo and his dad is pretty well-written. However, even though it does have some nice moments, the movie is pretty bland. None of the characters are very interesting, the plot is boring. Pixar is very well-known for taking a risk, writing a story that you never would have thought of. The Good Dinosaur? No. It just doesn't pack that "WOW" factor that you get after watching a pixar movie. They go on a long, drawn out adventure to get Arlo back home, but nothing really memorable happens. So all in all, the Good Dinosaur is a beautiful film, but doesn't leave you feeling like you do after most Pixar movies.
19. Monsters University
I really enjoyed Monsters University the first few times I watched it, but I was only seven or eight. So, my opinion of the movie has definitely changed. And it is definitely hard for me to rank, but it does end up falling pretty low on the list. I don't really have a lot to say about it. The story of Oozma Kappa is a nice one, and the new characters are pretty fun and interesting. The movie is pretty funny overall, and the plot is decent. And now I can say, that Monsters University, while it does have a charming story, is really just about two opposite monsters that eventually bond after a series of scaring competitions. And that just isn't that interesting, and we already knew they would eventually become friends because of Monsters Inc itself. And like I was saying before, while the plot, characters, and even ending are all pretty good, I don't really feel a whole lot after watching this movie. Thats how important rule no. 4 is.
Lot's of people have Soul really high on their list. I don't. I think it is overrated. It is a great movie, it's good for a Pixar movie. But the tone never really hit for me, the movie always kind of feels strange.
