Ranking The Top 50 Halloween Candies

Ranking the Top 50 Halloween Candies
Everybody loves Halloween. It is a fun holiday when Kids and Families dress up in scary, or goofy Costumes. They walk around the neighborhood, going from house to house, getting free Candy. Literally a dream come true, unless you aren't a sweet tooth. To people like me, who absolutely love Candy, it is amazing. And even though almost all Candy is amazing, there are a few that just don't hit the spot, and there are some that are so good they are equivalent to a Christmas present. Without further ado, here is my ranking of the all of the Halloween Candies.

Also keep in mind that when I say Halloween Candy, I mean Candy you get trick or treating. Their are some fantastic Chocolates out there that are very expensive, but you don't see anyone handing out those during Halloween. Also, obviously no matter what Candy you get, if it is king sized, it makes your day. I am ranking this not on size, but merely just by taste and texture.

I didn't include Caramel Apple Pops, Tootsie Pops, Warheads, Gummy Worms, and some other Candy because it was either uncommon or very similar to a Candy on the list already. Anyways, lets get started!

50. Jawbreakers
I am not a huge fan of hard Candy, but that is not the reason I put Jawbreakers in last place. They were basically invented by jealous Dentists wanting you to break your teeth. Jawbreakers are the candy that you sadly eat after finish all of the rest, it is the leftover Candy that nobody likes. It is much too hard to eat by itself, so you end up stuffing the thing in you mouth, sucking on it for fifteen minutes, and tasting almost no flavor. It is honestly just disappointing.
49. Runts
I almost didn't include Runts on this list, but I ended up putting them here because to be honest, I needed more gross Candy. There is a good chance you haven't had Runts before, but they are basically Fruit shaped hard Candy that dissolves into tasteless powder in your mouth. The only one that tastes like the Fruit is Banana, and it is still horrible. So close to being last place on this list.
48. Lemonheads
Lemonheads aren't necessarily gross, but they are basically just Lemon flavored mini Jawbreakers. If there was more variety of flavor they could rank higher on this list, but I just think Lemon is not the flavor to base a candy after. If I was including Chewy Lemonheads they would rank much higher, but they don't classify as a Halloween candy for me.
47. Sixlets
Sixlets are confusing to me. They are much crunchier M&Ms, fun to eat multiple at a time. However, the Chocolate quality tastes rather cheap to me, and they really aren't that good. Eating too much makes you feel sick, because the Chocolate is very crappy.
46. Tootsie Rolls
A lot of people love Tootsie Rolls, but I really don't find them that good. The Chocolate isn't that bad, but it still is kind of gross, doesn't have that Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate flavor, kind of like a creamy Cocoa flavor. It doesn't taste very good, and the texture is one of the most annoying Candies. It is very sticky and almost always gets stuck in your teeth. Very difficult to eat, yet a classic indeed.
45. Tootsie Fruit Rolls
I like these slightly better than normal Tootsie rolls because they don't have that strange, creamy Cocoa Chocolate taste. They still get stuck in your teeth just as easily, but are a bit more interesting to eat. The flavors are fun to combine, like Orange and Vanilla, or Lemon and Lime, but still not very tasty and once again, very sticky.
44. Twizzlers
Twizzlers are definitely not the most popular candy out there, but it certainly is not the worst. It is satisfyingly chewy, and may not have the best taste, but is still pretty good. Licorice is hated on quite a lot, and while I don't love it, it isn't terrible. I don't know where I stand between Twizzlers and Red Vines, but as for Twizzlers, I think this is a good place for them. Also, Red Vines was not included on this list.
43. Gobstoppers
Gobstoppers are once again smaller Jawbreakers, yet with much more flavor. Yet they still are too hard for me to enjoy. Just like the Lemonheads, they are better chewy, but I didn't include them. Up until this point, none of the Candy has been very good, but I think Gobstoppers aren't bad. The Candy from here on out is good Candy.
42. DumDums
No one dislikes DumDums. They are solid Candy, and a great Lollipop. But we have all had lots of DumDums in our days, and at some point, they get very old, no matter what flavor. They don't stick out at all, and are saved last with Halloween along with the Jawbreakers. Not a bad candy, just not very fun, especially for Halloween.
41. Smarties
Smarties are very sweet and have a solid amount of sour in them, and there isn't anything necessarily wrong with there taste. But wow, they are so dry. I like there packaging, but one roll of Smarties crushed up is basically powder. I don't know why they are called Smarties when they should be called "Candy Chalk". You can't eat a lot of them at once. But a fun addition around Halloween.
40. Mr Goodbar
Mr Goodbar is not the worst Chocolate bar out there, but I myself don't like it very much. I don't think the plain Peanuts and the Chocolate are a very significant taste. It isn't gross, but its flavor isn't very bold or delicious. I would be happy to get one or two of these during trick or treating, but definitely not something I want to see a lot of, or that I would select for myself.
39. Heath
I love toffee. Most people do. It is a crunchy, yet chewy Caramel like treat that is absolutely delicious. But it does not work for a Chocolate bar, or at least not this one. The Toffee doesn't work for such a small Candy Bar, and the Chocolate quality is the best. The Toffee is still pretty good, but it does get stuck in our teeth much too easily. So I think this is a good spot for the Heath Bar.
38. Caramel M&Ms
This is the first of four M&Ms on the list. I like Caramel Candy, just like I like Toffee. I think the idea of Caramel M&Ms is wonderful, but for some reason they just don't work. The Caramel is too hard, yet gets stuck in your teeth. But it is still crunchy M&M Chocolate we all know and love. And the Caramel is still not a bad taste.
37. Jolly Ranchers
Like I said before, I don't necessarily like hard Candy, neither do I hate it. I just prefer chewy Candy. That being said, Jolly Ranchers are one of the best hard Candy out there. They have great flavors, the best being Watermelon. But the Candy is just so annoying to eat. It is very sticky, and too hard to eat in a couple of bites. But it is still pretty tasty. A fun addition at Halloween time, just not too many of them, or all of your teeth might fall out.
36. Krackel
Krackel is one of the more unknown Candies given out at Halloween. It is a decent Candy bar, just kind of boring: Milk Chocolate with crisped Rice. There is nothing wrong with it, it tastes great. But it is basically Crunch Bar, just not as crunchy or good. This is one of those Candies that are good to eat, but you would never pick out alone to eat. Not a bad Candy, just not very fun.
35. Cookies 'N' Cream Hersheys
I remember when I was younger, my teacher once gave the class a full-sized Cookies 'N' Cream Hersheys bar, and we all watched Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. Probably a top five memory of elementary school. It was fun back then, and the crunchy Cookie flavor is delicious, but White Chocolate is honestly just kind of a strange flavor. A fun sounding combination, but really not as good as you would think.
34. Airheads
When I think Airheads, I think of grosser Laffy Taffy. Here's the thing: Airheads are way too sugary. It is not a gross Candy, but with the combination of all of that food coloring and fake chemicals and sugar, it really is pretty disgusting. But to be honest, I love sweet stuff, so they aren't bad to me, I just find Laffy Taffy better, same with Crunch being better than Krackel. Airheads are decent, but more than one and you feel like vomiting.
33. Swedish Fish
Swedish Fish can be thought of in several different ways. I don't think it is gross, in fact, whatever flavor it is, Strawberry or Cherry its actually pretty tasty. I know there are other flavors out there, but when's the last time you got a small pack with something else besides the red flavor. It is a tasty Candy, but they all taste the same, and eventually get boring. But I think they got the mixture of Sugar just right. It is not too sugary, just boring.
32. Gummy Bears
I wasn't sure what I like better, Gummy Bears or Swedish Fish. Swedish Fish isn't as hard for a chewy Candy and has a really nice texture, but I decided Gummy Bears because it simply is a little more fun to eat, and has more flavors. One of the good things about Gummy Bears is that there flavors actually taste like the Fruit, which most Candies are bad at. A solid Candy. I like sour Gummy Bears and Gummy Worms better, but I didn't include those in the list.
31. Hersheys
Hersheys. The original Chocolate Bar. Amazing 50 years ago, 100 years ago. The pure Milk Chocolate. But nowadays, the simple, plain Milk Chocolate is rather plain, and its not like there aren't more fancy Chocolates out there. So I think around below average is a good place. A decent Chocolate, and a fond original, just not very fun. This is also where I would rank Hersheys Kisses.
30. Blow Pops
Before I talk about Blow Pops, I just wanted to say I didn't include Tootsie Pops on this list because they are so similar to Blow Pops, or Caramel Apple Pops, because they aren't very common. That being said, kind of like DumDums, Blow Pops aren't bad. They taste fine, especially Cherry or Green Apple. Especially when the cracked Lollipop mixes with the chewy Gum. But for some reason, getting Lollipops at Halloween is kind of just disappointing. They are always one of the last things eaten. Still, not a bad Candy, pretty tasty.
29. Mounds
I have a confession to make: I have never had Mounds. They are the one candy on this list that I have never tried. I promise I will get them the next time I get a Candy. I put them here in the middle, because I love Almond Joy. They are one of my favorite Candies. But with Dark Chocolate instead, and no Almonds, I moved it down to the middle. I do admit, Dark Chocolate with Coconut sounds pretty good.
28. Hot Tamales
Hot Tamales. A spicy Cinnamon Candy. The texture is fine. This is one of those things, or Candies, that you either love it or hate it. A lot of people think that Candy shouldn't be spicy. I agree with that. I didn't put Fireballs on this list, but if I did, they would be near the bottom. But there is something about this Candy that is just really good, the flavor is fantastic: A spicy, Cinnamon with a light fruit taste. The Candy still gets stuck in our teeth, and I can see why you wouldn't like spicy Candy. So I put it near the middle.
27. Laffy Taffy
Laffy Taffy is difficult for me to rank. I can't think of a time when I was happy to get it for Halloween. Truth be told, the Candy is actually quite delicious. Besides all of the annoying parts, like it getting stuck in your teeth, the best flavors are pretty good. However, the reason it sits here, is because it is so hard to open the freaking Wrapper. If that Candy is even just a tad bit melted, it is impossible. The Wrapper gets stuck to the Candy, and you end up having to eat the Wrapper to get all of the Candy. A great taste, but very inconvenient.
26. Mike and Ikes
I really like Mike and Ikes. Especially the sour flavors. But I can see where it can go wrong for many people. The original flavors don't have a significant taste from one another. They get stuck in your teeth. For me they are great because they are basically bigger Jelly Beans but the good flavors of Jelly Beans. For others they are bad because they are basically Jelly Beans but all Jelly Beans are gross. See what I mean?
25. Crunch
I remember the Crunch Bar being one of my favorite Chocolate Bars when I was younger. It literally was its own name: A Crunch Bar. A Chocolate Bar with crisped Rice that was so crunchy it sounded like a nuclear explosion. Okay. Maybe not that crunchy. But looking back, the Crunch Bar is really plain. Just a crunchy Hershey Bar. I mean, it tastes fantastic, with perfect Milk Chocolate and a crunchy middle, but the only reason it ranks right in the middle, and higher than Krackel, is because of how rare they are around Halloween. You often get four or five Krackel bars, with Crunch you are lucky to get 2. A yummy Candy, just plain.
24. M&Ms
The original M&M. When I think classic Candy, I think Hersheys, Snickers, and M&Ms. However, compared to my other favorite Candies, and the other M&Ms, the original plain crunchy Chocolate falls at 24. A really fun crunchy snack, but very boring and not exciting. Still one of the best Chocolates, and one of the best Candies to snack on. The only reason they are here is because there is simply better Candy out there.
23. 3 Musketeers
At this point of the list, all of the Candies are spectacular. None of them are bad. I think 3 Musketeers are great, they are just down here because there are simply better Candies out there. Bite into a nice, milky Chocolate. Feel the smooth, silky Nougat. It is probably the creamiest Candy Bar out there, its delicious. It just doesn't stand out as much as some of the others ahead of it.
22. Peanut M&Ms
When I was younger I would eat Candy with Nuts in it, but I didn't love it, but know I have grown to love and appreciate the power of Peanuts, or Almonds in Candy. And when you take a wonderful crunchy Chocolate like M&Ms and make it even bigger, that's wonderful. Then you fill it with a Peanut, and its like: Wow. What else can we do now? Peanut M&Ms are fantastic, a salty, crunchy Chocolate that really hits the spot.
21. Baby Ruth
I don't really understand Baby Ruth. They contain Nougat, Caramel, and Peanuts, all covered in Chocolate. Sound familiar? Snickers. Snickers literally has the exact same ingredients. So why is one better? For some reason, Snickers is better. I think it might be where they put everything. I don't know why that would make one better. But still, Baby Ruth is a great Candy, right outside the top 20.
20. Nerds
Entering my top 20 Halloween Candies I have Nerds. Now, before you say that "Nerds are disgusting," and "They are too sweet and sour," let me tell you something: You are wrong. Nerds are good. They are one of the best Fruit Candies out there. They have a wonderful, tangy sour taste, and are really fun to eat. One of the few Candies you can grab a giant handful of and stuff in your mouth. There is also Nerd Ropes which are fantastic, and these big Chewy Nerds, which are rare and delicious. Nerds are really fun, just not as good as some of these other candies. I mean, think of how happy you are to get Nerds at Halloween.
19. York Peppermint Patties
Mint and Chocolate always works out. There is nothing wrong with it. It is absolutely fantastic. Best Girl Scout Cookies? Thin Mints. Its the same with York Peppermint Patties. The smooth, silky taste of the fresh, cool Mint flavor with the warm, sweet Chocolate is fantastic. Are they the top Mint on this list? No. Number two. But these are very underrated, a delicious Candy, always a rare find at Halloween.
18. Milk Duds
Milk Duds. Maybe the most common Movie Theater Candy. Its very popular. I personally think its a little overrated, but they still are pretty legit. The Caramel-like taste is great, and the Chocolate has a milky, Cocoa taste. The reason I didn't like Tootsie Rolls is because of that strange milky Cocoa flavor. Milk Duds have the same idea, but is done much better. They are a fun Candy to eat, just get stuck in your teeth too much.
17. Skittles
I had a difficult time ranking PayDay, 100 Grand, Skittles and Starburst. They were all extremely close. But I decided that Skittles are the worst, but still the best, if you know what I mean. The original fruit Candy. There are better options out there today, but you can't go wrong with Skittles. A fun tangy taste with the perfect amount of chew is absolutely wonderful. Stick one or two in-between two Starburst and you just made a freaking Sandwich. Life is wonderful.
16. Starburst
Starburst are a wonderful chewy candy. The best flavors are wonderful, the worst are meh. The problem is there is a possibility of getting the worst flavor twice in the same pack. But that is the odds you have to play. Like I said before, you could make an Andy Dwyer Parks and Recreation Sandwich with Skittles. Starburst are fun, easy to eat, and don't get stuck in your teeth much. A great Candy.
15. 100 Grand
I want you to imagine this: A wonderful Crunch Bar. Make it larger and crunchier. Then fill it up with Caramel. You still have it all covered in Chocolate. Holy crap. That sounds amazing. I have just described the 100 Grand Bar. It has a beautiful recipe for success, and it is pretty delicious. But alas, the Caramel is much too chewy. I don't want to take a bite of a small Candy Bar and chew it for 2 minutes. The Caramel is so hard to eat. A wonderful idea, but just not fulfilled to its full potential.
14. PayDay
I have only had PayDay once in my life, very recently. I thought it was pretty good. I definitely wouldn't have thought I would put it this high on my list. However, after lots of consideration, PayDay is one of the best Candy bars out there. The salty Peanuts brings a wonderful taste, and the fact that they completely surround the Caramel is awesome. One of the only Candy bars without Chocolate. It is wonderful. The Peanuts and Caramel really work well together.
13. Sour Patch Kids
Sour Patch Kids are fantastic. One of the best Fruit Candies, one of the best Sour Candies. It is fantastic. They are fun to eat, not as fun as Gummy Bears but still makes you feel like you are eating something alive. The sour taste is fantastic, and it has the perfect amount of sour vs sweet. I wish the flavors were more diverse, but this Candy is fantastic. Sour Patch Watermelon is also fantastic.
12. Junior Mints
Like I said before, Mint Candy is one of the best out there. Junior Mints are absolutely fantastic. The only bad part is that they melt a little easily, but you know what? Who gives a crap? That is Chocolate! The Mint flavor is very delicate and delicious, and with that great Dark Chocolate. It is all very creamy and very delicious. Wish I could get more of these around Halloween.

11. Whoppers
Say what you want about Whoppers, but these things are wonderful. Actually, shut up! They are amazing. Everybody loves Milk Duds at the Theater, for me, Whoppers is where I go. They aren't too strong so you can eat a bunch, and they are very crunchy and fun to eat. The Milk Chocolate surrounding the crunchy filling is wonderful. It has such an old-timey description to: Malted Milk Balls. Amazing!

10. Butterfingers
Into the top 10 we go! Butterfingers used to be my favorite Candy, and I still cherish them. You rarely get them at Halloween so they are even more special. And they are fantastic. A wonderful level of crunch, and the buttery goodness of that crunchy Peanut Butter section, flaky and wonderful as always, all of it completely covered in that wonderful Milk Chocolate. I love Chocolate and Peanut Butter, and this is that done very well. The one problem I have is that they are very sweet so you can't eat a bunch, but you know what? Who cares? I probably still will.

9. Sour Skittles
This is the last Fruit/Sour Candy on the list, so basically I am saying that Sour Skittles is my favorite Fruit Candy out there. It was close between Starburst, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, and this, but I think this is probably my favorite. You take the wonderful Skittles recipe for success, with all of its wonderful flavors, and simply coat some sour stuff on it. That's it. Me writing this realizes how freaking simple it is, but it has a great flavor, taste, and is super rare come Halloween time.
8. Reese's Pieces
I almost didn't include Reese's Pieces on the list because they aren't really given out among Halloween, but I figured for the sake of Candy, I had to. Reese's Pieces are very simple but for some reason are so much better than the normal M&Ms. The light Peanut Butter flavor is wonderful with the always perfect Chocolate, and they are really fun to snack on because they aren't too overpowering.
7. Peanut Butter M&Ms
I almost put Reese's Pieces ahead of Peanut Butter M&Ms, I was going back and forth, but I stuck with these ahead. If you guys can't tell I like Peanut Butter with Chocolate a lot, there are four candies in the top ten with Peanut Butter and Chocolate. That being said, I swear I am not being bias. PB M&Ms are wonderful, they still have that crunchy Chocolate we all know and love, and know with that smooth, wonderful Peanut Butter inside, it is pretty awesome. You can eat a bunch a time, nothing gets stuck in your teeth, it is absolutely perfect.
6. Milky Way
When I think of Milky Way, I think of a delicacy. Milky Way is one of the easiest Candies to eat. It is soft, smooth, and silky. None of it gets stuck in your teeth. The Ingredients are mouth-watering. The wonderful Milk Chocolate breaks, and inside of the Candy bar you find wonderful Caramel and a delicious Nougat. It is one of the best Candies out there. Plus, the name is perfect. It really is just as exquisite as the Milky Way Galaxy. And yes, I just used the word exquisite to describe a Chocolate Bar.
5. Snickers
I had to put Snickers barely over Milky Way because of one thing: It is literally the same Candy but has Peanuts. So you take the wonderful Milky Way Candy Bar and give it some crunch, some saltiness. Now that is a recipe for success. Almond Snickers is even better than normal Snickers, and is probably a top 3 candy. The Nougat is much better. But still, normal Snickers still hits the spot. The main things in Chocolate: Peanuts, Caramel, and Nougat. This Candy has them all.
4. KitKat
KitKat is one of the most simple Candies, but it is also one of the best. Some things made simple, like the regular Hersheys Bar, are rather boring. But when done well, and with more flavor, they are fantastic, like this KitKat Bar. The Wafer is covered in Chocolate and is very crunchy, sweet, and flaky. It is done beautifully well, and is absolutely delicious. The sweetness doesn't overpower the Candy, and the crunch makes it very fun to eat.
3. Almond Joy
With some Candies, people feel mixed feelings. With others, you either love it or hate it. Almond Joy is one of these Candies. Whatever you say, I absolutely love it. The Coconut taste is fantastic, silky, smooth, and soft. The almond gives it some crunch. To wrap it up, the Chocolate is fantastic, and in total it gives us a really unique, delicious Candy Bar. However, it can be pretty overpowering, which is what's keeping it from the top of the list.
2. Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Like I said before, I like Peanut Butter with Chocolate. Peanuts are pretty good, but Peanut Butter is even better. So Reese's Peanut Butter Cups is one of the best Candies to me. The Peanut Butter is fantastic and delicious, and combined with the Milk Chocolate, it really is amazing. They are huge, and are designed beautifully. They are fun to eat because you are actually eating a Cup, with those ridges. It is absolutely beautiful. I once was given a giant one as a gift, and eating it was probably the equivalent of Heaven. Again, like Almond Joy, they can be pretty overpowering, which again, keeps it from the top of the list.
1. Twix
And we have gotten here. What a ride it has been. And yes, my favorite Candy, my favorite Chocolate Bar, the best Halloween Candy, is Twix. While I do love Peanut Butter with my Chocolate, Caramel is the best way to go. Twix does it to perfection. The Milk Chocolate is delicious, the Caramel doesn't get stuck in your teeth, and it is smooth and elegant. The biscuit is crunchy, and delicious. All in all, the Candy is absolutely wonderful. When you take a bite, you get an excellent crunch, tasty Caramel, and great Milk Chocolate. That is why Twix is the best Candy on this list.

Well, we are all done. From Jawbreakers to Twix, this journey has been wonderful. My mouth has been watering the whole time. I have realized, don't be picky, or mad about what you get for Halloween. Besides a couple of disgusting flavors, and horrible textures, all Candy is delicious. Obviously, some are better than others, but all Candy is great. And I love Candy. Hope you enjoyed the first blog. I had a lot of fun writing it. However, don't eat too much Candy, or you will die.
